SHRI (Science Heritage Research Initiative) is an research team under DST has been led by Dr.Kalaiselvi R (Principal investigator) form Rajalakshmi school of Architecture. Research mainly focuses on the revival & sustainability of handicrafts in Tamilnadu. I worked as an research associate & includes works such as study & documentation of craft making process & tools used and had main part in providing design intervention. I got to strengthen my knowledge on ergonomic study of furniture and developed floor furniture for multiple craft works. Overall co-ordination, estimation & budgeting, report compilation, project management and proposal writing were also included in work as a research associate.

As an extended ergonomic study of research, we developed a minimalistic set of floor furniture especially for laptop workers. the table has been filed for product patent & the floor chair has its approved design patent


Paper publication

As a part of second year research under SHRI, study was conducted on the acoustical properties of the Chola temples based on the musical instruments. The paper titled "Acoustics of ancient chola temples with references to living oral traditions and location of music instruments" were presented in the National Symposium on Acoustics Conference conducted by Acoustical Society of India on March 2023 (vol.18, pg:83).


Ergonomic floor loom furniture

This is an yet another successful product development which is also under the process of patent filing. This furniture is purely developed based on the floor loom setup & weaving techniques study of the Pattamadai weavers.
